It is commonly believed among explorers that weapons of all kinds can be found within the tower. One day, a kind-hearted explorer named Mei rescues an armless man during a chance encounter.
The man discovers that Mei had lost her memories while exploring the tower. Having just realized her predicament, Mei yearns to discover the truth behind her amnesia.
Fortunately, being a mage, the armless man Gil senses their answer lies within Yggdrasil itself. Together with her new ally, Mei embarks on her journey to explore Yggdrasil once more, aiming to reach the top of the tower and uncover the mystery of her past. No cheats - Be the first to submit one! Because yeah, this was pretty much that, only with marginally more wiggle room. Zapan and most of his units in this battle are grossly overpowered for their level, pretty much requiring that you take the boss out quickly instead of trying to fight everyone.
The map after that was an absolute breeze by comparison despite having units of the same level or higher. So my conclusion is that HAS to have been an intentional difficulty spike. Level is usually everything in this game, but even once I'd grinded up and had an actual plan to survive, it was still kind of a ridiculous fight.
I dunno what was going on under the hood here. And I have no idea why either. Just a random level check maybe? Or maybe they're trying to set Zapan up as a serious threat? IIRC, Kachua leaves the party after you rescue her, and thats as far as I remember getting when playing this years ago. Even then, the details are so blurry I barely even remember the story up to this point, let alone whatever happens afterwards.

Ensure the bed is unoccupied before getting into it! I picked the Sage in order to get a better sense of the job. I didn't want to throw myself into duty roulettes until I got a handle on the job. I've last played a healer in Heavensward played White Mage for the whole of it , so jumping ahead to lvl 70 content depending on where the roulette lands , and not to mention being rusty, would probably be a disaster and frustrate the party.
Sage is a solid job for soloing FATEs. There wasn't much players doing them in early Shadowbringers zones so it was a necessity. Sage's Kardia ability where you select a party member myself in this case to be a target of your passive healing via DPS is awesome. I could round up like 3 enemies and that would be enough to sustain myself.
Adding a few more enemies at a time, I would need to throw in mitigation like shields and ::gasp:: even heal. With Sage at lvl 71, I could then access the first Shadowbringers dungeon with the Trust.
Now I can practice with the Sage with NPCs in a nice, safe environment before I got embarrass myself with real people. Last boss in the dungeon took me 3 tries. And I felt like I was barely keeping up with the healing.
Playing healer is like waaay more intense than DPS. The thing is the NPCs are pretty good at dodging, so I imagine it would be a nightmare at my current state to play with real people who would make more mistakes who knows with random matching. I guess I just need more practicing. One obstacle for me is oGCD single target healing. I don't know how to do it between attacking the boss.
I should have the time for a few taps to the d-pad to select someone and then a tap of whatever healing button. Combination of things make this an obstacle, I guess. Got plenty of time to do all of the above. The second factor would be obviously my unfamiliarity with my Sage button layout. Would definitely need muscle memory to perform oGCD single-target healing seamlessly.
Also, I'm not great at being proactive. The extent of my proactiveness is that I see a stack marker, I stack, and throw damage reduction, barrier, whatever. That's it. For actual healing, when I see bars go down, that's when I do it. Coming from White Mage whose big heal toolkit allows for such sloppiness, it's something I need to get better at. This would help with White Mage as well.
At the very least due to pre-cast something right before the need for it. More topics from this board The New Year has Arrived! Keep me logged in on this device. Forgot your username or password?
