Mad dog burner software

The problem is with the external faster burner. I'm asking which software you have installed because program conflicts can make it SEEM like you have a hardware problem; one device can malfunction while the other one works perfectly. OK, so we're making progress now, but I still want to know what burning software you have, so we can do some research and see if there are any known problems with your USB burner and any of the software you have installed on the system. Let's rule out the stuff that causes this type of problem, bizarre as it may be, because from what you've told us, the drive isn't dead; it still reads optical discs, and it DID work again after it originally failed, so we don't know enough yet to nail this down as a definite hardware problem or something that SEEMS like a hardware problem.

Since the burner reads, it SHOULD be able to write; if you said it was dead as a nail, then I'd agree the problem was most likely hardware related. The wierdest thing is that right when this started to happen, the dvd burner or maybe nero started acting up on my boyfriends computer. I was going to plug my external into his but I figured with his acting up it might not be worth it. I also had another thought. Could this be an issue of I have the wrong power cord plugging in the dvd burner?

I lost the power cord to something else so I had my tangle of random power cords out the other day and at some point the cord may have been switched.

I'm not sure but it's a possibility. Could the lack of correct power cord be causing it to read but not burn? To answer your question, this is NOT likely to be a problem with the power cord, so for now, we'll look elsewhere.

Look in the Device Manager, copy the model information shown, and post it here. Next question is, how long have you owned this drive? What burning speed is it rated for? Let me know what you find out from the Device Manager, so we can make some progress with this and get you back up to speed. I'm still waiting for you to answer the questions in my last post. There are firmware upgrades available for most of the MadDog DVD burners, but I want to know exactly which model you have before I post the link for you, so I can be sure you get the right upgrade to install.

I would like to help you get your burner working again, but if you don't reply, there really isn't much I can do to help you. If you flash the burner with the wrong firmware, or have a problem during the process, you'll ruin the burner and turn it into a paperweight. I can't make you do this; you seem to have a few different problems with your system that need addressing, but flashing the new firmware into the burner is the first step in the process.

If the burner isn't properly updated, trying to make it work with Windows is probably going to be a tremendous waste of time. Let's fix the hardware, so we can test the system and then fix whatever else might be wrong. Sorry, I haven't been home since you asked for the info. I'll get it tonight. Also, I already did the firmware update so I know that isn't the issue. Thanks for the information; now that I know you've already updated the firmware, we can focus on getting Windows to cooperate.

Though I'd still like to know exactly which model it is, there's no rush on providing those details now, so don't go out of your way. Sorry about the delay in posting this; I've been fighting a migraine for nearly two weeks now, and caring for a sick uncle ISO file , then download a small program to burn the.

I am attempting to back up dvd's that are in excess of 4. Do i Need to update my drivers to do this and if so where can i find the updated drivers?

You are the third person within a week that has come here with items made by Mad Dog. One concerned a psu and the other like yourself concerning a drive. Plus, if I am not mistaking, a drive has to be designed to burn dual layer. Its not a driver problem. Your disk burning software has to support dual-layer recording and you have to use dual-layer disks.

Thanks again, Paul M. It will allow you to configure different boot options. You should read the help file if you have never used it ,but it is an extremely important and handy app. Aspi are a group of drivers for Roms to operate in Windows with certain Apps.

Most authoring Apps must have. It is files that are loaded by a dos command. Force aspi is particular configuration that I have found to be simple and reliable. After installation , you open the infotool in Nero and confirm that the ASPI drivers are correctly installed.

As for programs being a Pain sometimes. What can I say! If you look at the infinite configurations possible on any given Computer it is really a wonder any of them work at all. My own philosophy is to accept this reality and move from there. Master what I can and get help when I need it. This is exactly why I am here at Techspot.
